True Rest: A FormaFit Reflection

I didn’t plan to rest. I just lay down. Mini desk still in place. Lamp still on. Cat finally calm. And I slept. Not the surface kind. Not the tossing kind. Not the kind where you close your eyes but your mind keeps running laps.

This was true rest. The kind that arrives when you’ve tried everything else
and finally stop trying at all. The kind that catches you, not because you finally got it right, but because your body couldn’t keep holding you up anymore and didn’t have to.

True rest looks like:

  • A lamp that burns all night because you didn’t plan to fall asleep

  • A cat who doesn’t claw at your peace, because he finally feels it too

  • A body that doesn’t ask for permission to recover

  • A silence that doesn’t need to be earned

  • A waking that feels less like morning and more like a return

I didn’t get rest because I finished my to-do list. I got rest because my soul overruled my schedule. And I’m letting it count.

The lamp beside me? Round. Planet-shaped salt lamp. A little moon I bought on Amazon, soft salt light from a galaxy that probably knows my name. Here’s a photo. You don’t just have to believe me, you can see yourself that it’s cute as hell.

Here’s that lamp I love and some other things I keep on my bedside table.
