Not Every Legacy Has a Name on a Building
Today I passed a magnet school named after Benjamin Franklin. A name carved into brick. A reminder of legacy that still moves. And I thought about how most of us will never have a school named after us. No statue. No plaque. No marble hallway. But that doesn’t mean we’re not part of something lasting.

What we do today, shapes our own future and starts to shape that of those after us. And just either way you see it, if you believe we come back in this life, then come back to a better place. If you don’t believe we do, do we not owe it to leave it a little better to our children, our mentees, our apprentices, even our replacements?
We’re here. Turning the wheel. Making systems work. Carrying messages. Creating space. Translating meaning and sharing knowledge, sharing skills. Holding the line. Building toward the future, not just ours, but toward leaving the world taken care of, and growing. Our work matters not because it’s loud, but because it’s woven. It moves through people. Through impact. Through what we make possible, whether our names are remembered or not.
We are part of the same motion. And that’s legacy, too.
Not every legacy comes with a building named after you. But if your work helps someone else move, speak, breathe, or belong, you’re part of the wheel. And that’s legacy, too.
