Chair Yoga at My Desk: A Midday Reset I Didn't Know I Needed
Today, I paused my day to try something I hadn’t done in a while: seated yoga. You can use a chair or a yoga mat. I'm not a yoga teacher, just a busy, sometimes tired, self-employed soul working long hours at my desk and out in the field. But I gave myself 15 minutes to stretch, breathe, and realign... and I felt so much better.
Why I Tried It
– Feeling tight from work, long sitting hours, stress, etc.
– Wanted something gentle and realistic during the workday.
What I Did (and Loved)
Just a few poses
All my positions were seated
Seated Cat-Cow
Neck rolls
Seated spinal twist
Shoulder rolls
Seated forward fold with deep breath
Disclaimer: not a yoga instructor but sharing what works.
How It Helped Me
Mental reset
Physical release
Created space to return to work with calm and clarity
Try It for Yourself
Invite others to pause and try one movement. Suggest they put on calm music or a timer for 10–15 min
Movement doesn’t have to be intense to be effective. Today, stillness moved me. And I’ll definitely be doing this again.
