Two Authors in a Waiting Room

Synchronicity doesn’t shout. Sometimes it just takes a seat beside you. I was in a waiting room when a man sat next to me and said, “Thank God for this place.”

It was an optometrist’s office. The man next to me had sat on his glasses, popped a lens out, and they were repairing them for him, for free. I was there waiting on Coach Formie.

He told me he was an author. Used to be a lifeguard, and once brought someone back to life with his breath. That alone is a story, but he went on, he had written a book about how positivity changed his life. That’s the very message I’ve been living, posting, and moving with.

He wore a fedora with a feather, and for some reason that small detail triggered a flashback. A hat, a feather, and a sword, things I once saw randomly placed outside my childhood home that I saw as a child and the image imprinted in me. An odd memory. A quiet sign. Or maybe just… confirmation.

I was so deep in thought that I didn’t even tell him I was an author too. That I’ve just recently started publishing my journal, and I’m sharing my story too, page by page, step by step. Two authors. Different ends of the journey. But what are the chances?

Then Coach Formie came out, we all wished each other well, and he was gone.

But the message stayed. Keep moving.
