Rest Is a Flex: Why I Took the Day Off (And You Should Too)
We got mani-pedis. We sat still. We rested. And I needed the reminder because sometimes, even Coach Vida forgets that rest is part of the work.
Before the pedi.
Rest Is Not Weakness. It’s a Weapon.
When you’re in survival mode, rest feels like the enemy. Like you’re falling behind. Like you’re not doing enough.
But here’s what I know in my body, even when my mind forgets:
Rest is a flex. Trust is a flex. I move when I say so. And when I rest, I sharpen.
I don’t rest because I’m tired. I rest because I’m disciplined. Because I know what’s coming.
Because when the call comes when the season turns, when the other side comes at me again, I’ll be ready.
Rest Days Are Strategy.
This isn’t about luxury. It’s not about permission. This is about listening to your body, honoring your energy, and remembering that stillness is power.
Whether it’s:
A trail day
A journal day
A spa day
A full stop for a pedicure with the people you love
It’s all part of the rhythm. Because you don’t just move hard. You recover long and hard sometimes and rest days give you a chance to enjoy the recovery in order to live without limits, on purpose.
A Reminder to Myself:
I’m allowed to pause. I’m allowed to glow. I’m allowed to not explain it to anyone.
Whether in motion or stillness, my rest is earned. My rest is part of the plan. My next move is already loading.
