What Do You Do When You Feel Blah?

What do you do when you feel blah? I’m at a point where there are a few things I simply can’t do anything about. I can’t make a payment arrive faster. And because of that, I can’t make certain payments on time.

Sure, I could be angry about the late fee. I could sit in the stress. But at the end of the day, nothing changes. There is still nothing I can do about today.

Work is slow. trickling in. And when you’re self-employed, that’s when the questions start.
You wonder if you made the right choices. When it’s good, it’s great. But when it’s slow, it doesn’t just slow down, it slams.

Most of the time I plan for that. This time, it squeezed me slowly until it dragged me.

So what do you do when there’s no work and you’ve already built something? You’ve already fixed what was broken at home. You’ve already done the laundry, washed the dishes, cleared the space.
You’ve released the bad energy from your house.

Maybe you eat an ice cream cone. Maybe you just sit. Because there is nothing you can do about today.

I don’t feel like building another thing. I don’t feel like proofreading another project. I don’t feel like prepping for my online meeting tomorrow. I don’t even feel like walking the trail.

It’s chilly. It’s quiet. It’s a blah day all around. There isn’t even anything I want to watch. So what do I do?

I do my chores. And when those are done, I breathe deeply. I envision. I think.

I’m not sure I solve anything and that’s okay. I accept it.
Tomorrow is another day.

I did do one good thing, though. I planted a seed.

I sent a sample of my work to a colleague. And that might grow into something later, maybe when I’m not even looking.

So no, today wasn’t a nothing day.

It was quiet.
It was contained.
It was honest.

And sometimes, that’s enough.
